Sherburn Defence Butchered

Headingley AFC were looking for an instant reply to their disappointing result on the weekend, by overcoming a Sherburn White Rose team who had started their league campaign very well.

From the outset, Headingley AFC were dominant and the only surprise is that they had to wait until the brink of half time to take a well deserved lead, with a quick fire brace from Ashley Austin, as he continued his fine goal scoring form.

The home side came out all guns blazing in the second half, scoring in 45 seconds of the restart, however Headingley AFC remained confident and regained their two goal cushion, when Callum Butcher’s mazy run from halfway, drove him towards the opposition’s penalty area, where he turned the defence inside out and planted a low drive into the bottom corner. Headingley AFC had further good chances to increase their lead and however, were thankful for Daniel Hibbert in the sticks for protecting their lead and clinching another 3 points
